Fort Matanzas National Monument

Fort Matanzas National Monument sits on the Matanzas Inlet about 2 miles south of the Sand Dollar Condos. It was built back in the 1740s to defend St. Augustine from British attack. 

The National Park is open daily to the public and offers a short ferry ride over to the fort from 9:30 am to 4:30pm at no cost. Boarding passes can be obtained at the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center. Ferry seats are at a first come first served basis. 

Fort Matanzas also features beautiful nature trails. Visitors can enjoy walking on the shore, walking on the 1/2 mile boardwalk through the forests, fishing and picnics.
